$HOOTUM

Quantum meme · on NEAR · paired with QTC

Your wallet is both safe and stolen. Until Hootum opens the box.

|wallet⟩ = ( |safe⟩ + |stolen⟩ ) / √2

In 1935 a cat sat in Schrödinger's box. The cat retired. An owl moved in. Now the thing in the box is your wallet.

Move your cursor over the owl. Observing collapses it.

Contract addresssuperpositionIt collapses to one address at launch. Only trust the CA posted here and on our X.

The experiment

Same box. New tenant.

1935

Schrödinger puts a cat in a box. Until someone looks, it's alive and dead at once.

2026

The cat retires. An owl takes the box. Owls see in the dark, and they look first.

Q‑day

Now your wallet sits in the box. If its lid is open, a big enough quantum computer can read the key inside.

How the box works

A Bitcoin address is a box. The lid is a hash.

This is the real mechanism behind Open the box, not a metaphor.

1 · Lid closed

Received, never spent

The chain only shows a hash of your public key. The key itself stays in the box. That's |alive⟩.

2 · Lid opened

The first spend

To spend, a wallet must publish its public key. Taproot and the oldest coins show it from day one. That's |dead⟩.

3 · Q-day

Shor opens the box

A large enough quantum computer running Shor's algorithm can turn a public key into its private key. ECDSA and Ed25519 both fall to it.

Quantus · no lid problem

Money built for Q-day

Quantus is a proof-of-work chain that signs with ML-DSA (Dilithium-5), the NIST post-quantum standard FIPS 204, from block one. There is no ECDSA key for Shor to break. Quantus mainnet has run since 9 Sep 2026; its coin, QTC, reached NEAR on 7 Oct 2026.

That's why $HOOTUM trades against QTC, and why Observers get paid in it.

Is your Bitcoin address alive or dead?

Paste a BTC address. We check if its public key has ever appeared on-chain. Read-only. No wallet connection.

|alive⟩ Public key not seen on-chain yet. Not “safe forever”, just not exposed.
|dead⟩ Key is exposed: the address has spent before, or it's Taproot / P2PK.
|ψ⟩ Superposition. We couldn't tell: an unspent script, an empty box, or the lookup failed.

Observers get paid in QTC

Paid in the coin built for Q-day.

$HOOTUM trades against QTC, whose signatures use the NIST post-quantum standard. Every fee the token earns goes to holders in QTC, or burns. The creator takes 0%.

QTC paid to Observers0.0000 QTCStarts counting after launch
1

Someone buys or sells $HOOTUM on its HOOTUM/QTC pool.

2

A 2% buy/sell tax is collected. After the platform cut, 90% goes to holders and 10% burns $HOOTUM. On buys, the pool fee goes to holders too; on sells, it burns.

3

nearly.trade pays it out in QTC to every wallet, by bag size, about every 15 minutes.

4

This counter reads the total on-chain. Nothing to claim, nothing to sign.

Tokenomics

Every trade is a measurement.

A measurement collapses something and pays the observer. Here, each trade burns a little $HOOTUM and pays Observers in QTC.

Quantum canary

An idea. Quantus's founder expects the first quantum theft to look like an ordinary lost key. A public canary would watch the big |dead⟩ boxes, like Satoshi's, for moves nobody can explain.

FAQ · Observer vocabulary

Questions from inside the box.

Does Hootum protect my wallet?

No. Hootum is a meme. The box checker only tells you whether your public key is already visible on-chain. It does not move, secure, or insure anything.

Where do I buy?

On nearly.trade. $HOOTUM is paired with QTC, but you can pay with NEAR: the swap routes through QTC for you in one transaction. Routing adds about 1% in pool fees.

What does a trade cost?

3%: the 1% pool fee plus the 2% tax. Paying with NEAR adds about 1% for the hop through QTC. Most of it comes back to holders: 1.26% of every trade in QTC, plus the pool fee on buys. Sells feed the burn.

How do I get paid?

Just hold. About every 15 minutes, nearly.trade sends QTC to holders by bag size once a wallet is owed at least $0.10. Tokens sitting in a pool or LP position don't count.

Why is there no dev first buy?

nearly.trade only allows a first buy on NEAR pairs. On a QTC pair the dev buys on the open market like everyone else, from one public wallet, capped at 3%.

How do I spot a fake token?

There is one contract address. It appears only on our X account and in the header of this site. Any other address using the name is not ours.

What does |alive⟩ actually mean?

That address has never revealed its public key on-chain. It's a snapshot of today, not a guarantee.

Why would a quantum computer open my box?

Bitcoin signatures use ECDSA. Shor's algorithm, on a large enough quantum computer, recovers a private key from its public key. Your public key goes on-chain the first time you spend from an address, or right away for Taproot and the oldest coins. Nobody has that machine yet. Nobody knows when Q-day comes.

What does Hootum have to do with Quantus?

Nothing official. Hootum is an independent meme that pairs with QTC and pays holders in it. We're not affiliated with Quantus, NEAR or nearly.trade.

Is QTC quantum-safe?

Quantus says QTC signs with ML-DSA (Dilithium-5), standardised by NIST as FIPS 204. That's their claim about their chain; check quantus.com. Hootum makes no promise about the safety of any wallet.
